Dr Jeff Braxton

Dr Braxton is originally from Michigan.  He received his bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from Northern Michigan University in 1985.  He attended medical school at the University of Michigan, receiving his M.D. in 1989.

Dr. Braxton moved to Chicago for his surgical residency at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Lukes Medical Center.  After completing his residency, he joined the practice in 1994.  He maintains a staff appointment at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Lukes Medical Center as an instructor in the department of General Surgery.  He serves as the director of Trauma at Rush Copley Medical Center.

Dr. Braxton developed a special interest in hernia repair after operating with Dr. Kugel in Olympia, Washington in 1996.  He became the first surgeon to perform the Kugel hernia repair east of the Mississippi in 1996.  Dr. Braxton became a charter member in the American Hernia Society in 1997.  He has trained hundreds of surgeons from around the country in hernia repair techniques since 1997.
